  • 8 - country style pork ribs I used 4 lbs. pork spare ribs instead
  • 2 liter bottle Dr. Pepper soda
  • 5 garlic cloves slightly smashed or minced
  • 1 tablespoon liquid smoke
  • 1 large onion quartered
  • your favorite barbecue sauce
  • seasoning for ribs optional
  • brown sugar optional

Instructions

  • Prep ribs. Remove membrane and cut to fit in stockpot (if necessary)
  • Place ribs in large stockpot and pour entire bottle of Dr. Pepper over ribs to cover.
  • Add garlic, liquid smoke and onion.
  • Bring to a boil, lower to simmer and cook until ribs are tender - approx 1 1/2 - 2 hours should do it.
  • Place ribs in baking pan. Season (optional) Pour desired amount of BBQ sauce over ribs. Don't skimp on the BBQ sauce.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes.
  • Sprinkle ribs with a bit of brown sugar and broil for 3-4 minutes. (Optional)
  • Alternately, you can finish the ribs off on the BBQ grill.
  • Enjoy!
