Chocolate Banana Lovers

These Chocolate Chip Banana Bars are moist, rich with flavor, delicious & super easy to mix up and made with ingredients you more than likely have on hand. They make a lovely dessert or after school snack.

These bars are more of a cake bar than a brownie. Resist the urge to frost them! The chocolate chips give them plenty of a rich & creamy bite.

Ingredients & Instructions

You’ll dirty a few bowls but these Chocolate Chip Banana Bars go together effortlessly!

First thing – make sure you have extra ripe bananas. The browner the peel, the better!

After all the ingredients are mixed together, divide batter in half into two separate bowls. This doesn’t have to be measured exactly, just eyeball it.  In one half, stir in chocolate chips.  In the other half, add cocoa powder and mix.

Spoon cocoa batter into greased baking dish and smooth out with a spatula. Spoon other half of batter on top, carefully smoothing out with a spatula.

Bake about 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Result – a moist layered bar booming with banana and chocolate in every bite. This is a very cake like bar. At first glance you might be tempted to frost these bars – but trust me – they do not need it. The chocolate chips give you that creaminess.

Hope you enjoy!

Hi Pattie! Thanks so much, glad your enjoy the recipes. I’m not familiar with diabetic baking, I do sometimes use sugar substitutes like agave or maple syrup, but I’m thinking those might not be diabetic friendly…? What sugar substitutes do you use? I could definitely try to develop some sugar free baked goodies! I’m always up for baking experiments 🙂
