Cheesy Refried Bean Dip

Refried Beans – Some Of Us Love Them

First thing I’ll say – you have to be a refried bean lover to enjoy this dip.

I get that not everyone is a bean, or refried bean, enthusiast. If that’s the case, this recipe is probably not for you. That’s ok.

Bean enthusiasts – read on….

This recipe uses a can of regular refried beans. Homemade refried beans are always wonderful. Black refried beans are awesome in this as well!

Ingredients

Ingredients for Cheesy Refried Bean Dip

It’s gotten to the point where I make the majority of the food we eat. If not, I fork over the extra cash for a product made with quality ingredients.

My biggest concern with packaged, store bought dips is all the junk ingredients added to them. I’m most concerned with the absurdly high amount of seed oils listed in the ingredients. Way too much of that stuff is added to our food – and I don’t know about you – but I can taste those oils!

This Cheesy Refried Bean Dip recipe uses just a handful of simple ingredients. Refried beans, salsa, shredded cheese, sour cream, cream cheese & spices. You can top this dip off with all kinds of fun stuff if you’d like – scallions, jalapenos, black olives.

Interesting in making everything homemade from scratch? Cook your own beans with this Instant Pot Mexican Black Beans & make your own salsa with this Blender Salsa Recipe !

Preparation

If your cream cheese isn’t already softened, you can soften it in the microwave on a reduced power setting.

The only thing you’re really doing here is combining all the ingredients. Make sure you mix all the ingredients well.

You can use one baking dish or multiple smaller dishes. I often use multiple dishes for dips when I have company (think football) so I can keep a few warm in the oven. Note that cooking times will lessen if using smaller dishes.

This dip can easily get made in a small crock pot or kept on warm in a crock pot.

Serve

Serve this Refried Bean Dip warm with tortilla chips.

You can top it with scallions, sliced jalapenos, black olives – whatever you’d like!

Hope you enjoy!

Notes

You can use one baking dish or multiple smaller dishes. I often use multiple dishes for dips when I have company (think football) so I can keep a few warm in the oven. Note that cooking times will lessen if using smaller dishes.
Use your favorite salsa. I prefer “medium” salsa for a little heat.
If your cream cheese isn’t softened, remove from wrapper, place on a microwave-safe dish and microwave at reduced heat setting (30%) for 30 second intervals.
