A sweet & simple Irish Cream Martini. Vodka tones down the sweetness of Irish Cream liqueur without losing the flavor. Perfect for St. Patrick’s Day – or any day of the year! Cheers!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day. I’m not Irish – not a drop of it. That doesn’t stop me from celebrating just a wee bit. Irish Cream Martini, anyone?
I’ll admit that I’m very unfamiliar with Irish cuisine. I promise…I’ll get to exploring it. Any guidance or suggestions of where to start would be warmly appreciated.
As a former bartender, I am familiar with Irish drinks. My bar celebrated with an Irish Wake each year – and it was fun, wild & crazy. Good times.
For the record, I love Irish beer. I’ll happily drink stouts any day of the year.
Irish Cream has always befuddled me a bit. It’s simply Irish whiskey, cream, vanilla, maybe a bit of cocoa – but it’s always been way too sweet for me.
I served many traditional Irish Cream cocktails over the years – none of which I would have ever enjoyed.
I decided to make an Irish Cream drink for all.
I’ve made numerous drinks with Irish Cream the past few weeks and was struggling. Too thick, too sweet. I could drink one small drink, but that’s surely not how the Irish would want it.
So when all else fails – have a martini. Or make a martini out of it. It was a simple success.
I could happily have a few of these Irish Cream Martinis – and they’re certainly easy enough to shake up.
The vodka tones down the sweetness of the Irish Cream but manages to keep all the flavor there.
You can dress this martini up – or add a drop of green food color to be festive.
Have fun & enjoy!
